Had I actually written appropriate and timely posts, they would have gone something like this: "I'm pregnant!!", "it's a boy!", "some belly pics" and "meet our baby!", but truth is I had too much going on (loosing my job then looking for another one while preggers, feeling guilty about scrapbooking because I was knocked up and unemployed, etc)

But now I'm back, ready and excited to work on this blog again. I look forward to share my projects with you, especially now that I have such an interesting subject to scrap.

Credit when it's due, I scraplifted this desing from Erica Hernandez's "seven months" LO and Kayleigh's "hello baby", both featured on the summer edition of Scrapbooks Etc. (click on their names to see their galleries, you wont regret it)

The original LOs had some staples on them that looked GREAT, but I could not bring my self to add some to my own for fear they will eventually rust and ruin my work. Any advice or your personal experience, positive or negative, on this matter will be greatly appreciated.

Debo empezar por dar crédito. Me robé el diseño de las paginas hechas por Erica Hernandez (titulada "seven months") y Kayleigh ("hello baby") publicadas en la edición de verano de la revista Scrapbooks etc. (dale click en sus nombres para ver sus galerías, no te arrepentirás)

Las páginas originales tenian grapas que se veían SUPER BIEN, pero no me animé a añadirlas en mi página por miedo a que se oxidaran y arruinaran mi trabajo. Cualquier consejo o tu experiencia personal, positiva o negativa, en el asunto será muy apreciado.

I made this layout 6 x 12. I though it was fun to do this for a change. Besides, I like to have pages of different sizes on the same album.
Have you tried 6 x 12?, what was your experience?, do you find it harder than square pages?

The card made for a challenge I could not enter/ la tarjeta que hice para un reto al que no pude entrar

So, this the card was made for last week's challenge. Quite a nice color combo and quite fun to work with.
Sadly, and I'm not pointing fingers here, I wasn't able to snap a photo on time because our memory cards were accidentally left at somebody's office. But let's not dwell on that, shall we?
Anyhoo, as usual, I used only scraps to make this one, and a cute Colorbok stencil I found at one of my LSS.
Funny how I was reluctant to buy my trusty butterfly punch by EK success, thinking that I wasn't going to use it as much and now I do on pretty much every card I make. Money well spent!

Hice esta tarjeta para el reto de la semana pasada. Es una combinación de colores muy bonita y fue divertido trabajar con ella.
Tristemente, no pude sacar la foto a tiempo para participar por que alguien olvidó las memorias de nuestra cámara en su oficina. Pero no abundemos en lo pasado, verdad?
De todas formas, como es usual, usé solo pedazos sobrantes para hacerla y un lindo stencil de Colorbok que encontré en una de mis tiendas locales de scrapbook.
Es gracioso como en un principio no quería comprar mi perforadora de mariposa marca EK Success en el supuesto de que no la usaría mucho, y ahora lo hago en casi todas las tarjetas que armo. Dinero bien invertido!

scrapping a bad photo/ haciendo una página con una foto mala

I came across this pic of my sister meeting her baby, Rachelle, for the first time. My niece is now 3 and a half, but I never got the courage to work with this dark noisy photograph. I'm pretty sure it was taken with a diposable camara (the horror!!)

Then, it hit me: sure the pic sucks and all, but how many times do you get to capture such an important event? This photograph might be a photographer's nightmare but it is WAY more meaningful than many other sharp, well exposed photos of nothing.

So, this is my advice to you, scrap that bad (yet important) photo and do it today. Use some smart cropping and editing if needed to, but don't sweat it if it never comes out really ok, life is short.

Also, don't print it any bigger than 4x6 :)

Encontré esta foto de mi hermana conociendo a su bebé Rachelle por primera vez. Mi sobrina tiene ya 3 años y medio, pero nunca tuve el coraje de trabajar con esta foto tan oscura y con tanto ruido. Estoy bastante segura que la tomaron con una cámara desechable (horror!!)

De repente me di cuenta: cuantas veces logra uno capturar un momento tan importante?. Seguro, esta photo es la pesadilla de un fotógrafo, pero es mucho mas significativa que muchas otras bien expuestas que no documentan nada.

Así que este es mi consejo, haz una página con esa fea (pero significativa foto y hazlo hoy. Recortala de forma inteligente y edítala según lo necesites, pero no te preocupes si nunca queda del todo bien, la vida es muy corta.

También evita imprimirla en un size mayor a 4x6 :)

I found this article on the Pioneer Woman blog. It talks about the importance of being in the pictures with your loved ones, and I find it to be so powerful and true that I though I'd share it with you.

I believe that what she says is specially important for scrappers that are so keen on saving memoires and quite often forget to include ourselves in the legacy that is our scrapbooks.

Enjoy! and start stepping in front of the camera more often!

Encontré este artículo en el blog Pioneer Woman. Habla sobre la importancia de estar en las fotografías con tus seres amados, y lo encontré tan poderoso e inspiraor que tuve que compartirlo con ustedes.

Creo que esta lectura especialmente importante para los scrappers que hacen tanto eénfasis en conservar los recuerdos, pero olvidamos tan a menudo incluirnos es ese legado que son nuestros libros de reccortes.

For this LO, I was inspired by Mimi and her attemps to communicate. She cracks me up everytime she fails to appropiately conjugate a verb, use the plural or singular in agreement with the noun or just makes up all these "words" that only she understands... too cute.

Esta página está inspirada en los intentos de Mimi por comunicarse. Me carcajeo cada vez que ella no puede conjugar un verbo apropiadamente, usar el plural o el singular en concordancia con el sujeto o simplemente se inventa "palabras" que sólo ella entiende... es tan linda.

Now the tip I have, and seriously, I'm proud of my self for sorting this one out, is for spanish speakers who happen to be scrappers as well, like myself. You might have noticed that stickers don't come with a "ñ", which is only normal given that there is not such a letter in the english language. Still quite inconvenient if you are trying to spell "niño" or "caña" (not that I have used that word on a LO)

So, what do you do? you use a regular N and make the wiggly top out of two commas. Behold:

Ahora, el tip que les tengo, y de verdad que estoy orgullosa de haber superado este escollo, es para hispanohablantes que al igual que yo hacen scrap. Habrán notado que que los stickers no vienen con una letra "ñ", lo cual es entendible ya que esa letra no existe en el inglés. No deja de ser, Sin embargo, es inconveniente cuando quieres deletrar "niño" o "caña" (no que yo haya usado esa palabra en una página)

Así que, ¿que hacer?, pues usar una N y hacer la parte de arriba de dos comas superpuestas. Observad:

So, last saturday me and Jared were in the middle of our accostumed saturday night poetry reading and I bumped into this delightful poem by EE Cummings, called "I carry your heart", and.... OK, we were watching "In her shoes" and Cameron Diaz read it in the final scene, sue me.

Anyhoo, this is the LO I made inspired by it.

color challenge No. 43/ reto de color No. 43

the color combo for this challenge was brown, orange, green, blue and light red, and boy did I struggle with it. I actually made I card that turned out OK, but I wanted something nicer for the challenge.

So, I went to my LSS and found the cutest paper by Imaginisce. It just had all the right colors in it!, so it all worked in the end, I made a card for my sister's B-day tomorrow and got the challenge done.

La combinación de colores para este reto fue marron, naranja, verde, azul y rojo claro y vaya que si tuve que luchar con ella. De hecho, hice una tarjeta que quedo mas o menos, pero quería algo mas bonito para el reto.

Así que fuí a mi tienda de scrapbook mas cercana y encontré este lindisimo papel de Imaginisce. Simplemente tenía todos los colores correctos! así que todo salió bien al final, hice la tarjeta que le voy a dar a mi hermana para su cumpleaños mañana y puedo participar del reto.

This is my latest LO. I used some of the papers from the Weathervane collection of October Afternoon.

I learned, while doing this one that you can make a doble scalloped border (green one on the pic) using your threading waters punch. Cool, huh?

time to pimp my card/ tiempo de "enchular" una tarjeta

I was going throught my box of cards and found that many of them, which I made when I first started, are just not of my linking anymore. Knowing me, those cards will never get sent and will sit in there forever. It broke my heart to think that the paper I used in them would pretty much go to waste.

Estaba revisando mi caja de tarjetas ay me di cuenta que muchas de ellas, las que hice cuando empecé, ya no me gustan para nada. Conociendome, esas tarjetas no iban nunca a ser regaladas, si no a vivir para siempre ahí. Me dio pena pensar que el papel usado en ellas sería básicamente un desperdicio.

As I sorted the bad ones and tried to decide what to do with them, it hit my like a rock: I just had to "pimp" them!.

Don't get me wrong, I am completely against redoing scrapbook pages as they are a reflection of me at the time I made them, but cards are a whole different story, if they are going to be hand out they better be cute!

Much better looking indeed, with very little effort and a minimun use of new resources (only scraps, yay!).

The combination of baby cards and scallops is oh-so-right. I also turned the center into a window (thank God for the Coluzzle) and decorated the onesie. Seems like this one will find its way into an envelope.

Ahora tiene mucho mejor aspecto, con muy poco esfuerzo y con un uso mínimo de nuevos recursos (sólo los pedacitos de otros proyectos).

La Combinación de tarjetas de bebé y festones queda muy bien y me ocupé de hacer el centro una ventana (gracias a Dios por el Coluzzle). Igualmente decoré el monito. Parece que ésta si encontrará el camino hacia un sobre.

We all know and love those cute little Studio G stamps. They are tiny, they are adorable and they are cheap, hence it's huge succes.

What most people, me included, usually don't do is actually using them. I know, I know, we all love to just look at them, but you gotta use 'em to justify it's irresistible price.

Which is why I came up with this tiny 2.7x4" card. I colored the cupcakes using my good ol' and just as cheap Maped colour pencils and my Dove blender pen.

Todos conocemos y amamos los sellos de Studio G. Son chiquitos, adorales y muy baratos, de ahí su gran éxito.

Lo que la mayoria de personas no hacemos es usarlos. Lo sé, lo sé, a todos nos gusta sólo mirarlos, pero hay que usarlos para justificar su irresistble precio.

Es por eso que me ocupé de hacer esta tarjetica de 2.7x4 pulgadas. Coloreé los bizcochitos con mis igualmente baratos lapices de colores de Maped y mi lapiz mezcaldor de la marca Dove.

Two peas in a bucket is giving away $20 in scrappy product to whoever posts 20 projects (cards, layouts, altered items) before january 31. SERIOUSLY.

For those of you who don't know, Two Peas is one of the biggest, better known scrapbook stores online, they also have message boards, galleries and so on. So, believe me, this not a scam :)

You have to sign in to be able to upload. I was already a member but had only added one LO to my gallery. Boy, am I happy I neglected to post my work before.

I received my credit today and (after a little hapy dance) ordered all this:

Here in the DR we do gift exchanges we call "angelitos" or little angels. It is sort of like a secret santa but some people do them also onValentines, end of school year and other special ocassions.

The Britos, my maternal family, have been playing an angelito for the past two years on Epiphany, but before the actual exchange we all know who is whose angel and who is getting what. We just cant keep secrets.

Journaling reads:

"The Britos can not keep a secret. The day of the gift exchange, everybody knew who was his/her secret gift giver or knew what the gift was.

That's why the surprise faces we make are rather funny.

Here's the proof:

a- Mom already knew that dad was her secret santa. She even "suggested" what he coud buy for her;

b-Tanya already knew that her angel was either Gaby or Quico who

c-Double show: Penny fakes surprise, Tanya fakes that she didn't know (by elimination) that Quico was Penny's angel;

d-Jared knew exactly what he was getting

e-Quico fakes surprise while receiving what is obvioulsly a basketball"

intercambio de regalos que la gente hace en ocasiones especiales como navidad, dia de san Valentin, el final del año escolar, etc.

Los Brito, mi familia materna, ha estado haciendo uno los últimos dos años el dia de Reyes, pero antes del intercambio todo el mundo sabe quien le deja a quien o que regalos recibirá el otro. Simplemente somos terribles guardando secretos.

...and it only took me the whole weekend. I guess when you don't scrap for so long it gets harder. But now that the christmas card frenzy is over I'll be sure to make time for my books (lots of photos to work on).

Also, if you have any advice on how to be less anal in you scrapping, please, let me know. I'll try anything :)

color challenge #33/reto de color #33

It's been a while since I participated in a Kwerner color challenge. I was seriously aching to, but sometimes life gets too busy and the last month has been crazy. Hopefully, I'll be back to blogging and crafting from now on.

I really pushed my boundaries with this card, as it is hard for me to work on a white background, not to mention white alphas (stickers and cardstock of the same color is like a revolution on my square, little world).

I have some stuff I'd like to share, and I hope to do so soon.

Hacía mucho ya que no participaba en un reto de color de Kwerner. Estaba loca por hacerlo, pero la vida se complica a veces y el mes reciente ha sido una locura para mi. Con suerte, me reintegraré desde ahora a bloggear y a trabajar en mis proyectos.

Me salí un poquito de mi zona de comfort con esta tarjeta, ya que se me hace muy dificil trabajar con un fondo blanco, y que decir de las letras blancas (letras y cartulina del mismo color es un concepto revolucionario en mi pequeño mundo cuadrado)

Tengo algunas cosas que compartir y espero poder hacerlo pronto.

What's with little girls these days and their attitude?, it is undeniably cute (seriously, the eyerolling, the crossed arms and all that) but attitude all the same.

Camille here is no exception, she usually says things like "don't even think I will go back to the stupid school" or "Discovery kids is for little babies", I find it annoying at times, amusing at others but I always wonder if I was ever like that. Hence the importance that my scrapbook pages have for me: she will know.

Jornaling reads:

"*school is not stupid

*Discovery kids is not just for little kids

*Yes, I do think you will eat your veggies

*Enough with the eyerolling

*Stop putting the word "stupid" before every noun

*You are 4, not 14

¿Que con las niñas de hoy día y su actitud?, es innegablemente lindo (en serio, los gestos y los brazitos cruzados y toda la cosas) pero igual es una mala actitud.

Camille, en la foto, no es una excepción. Usualmente dice cosas como "ni pienses que voy a volver a la tonta escuela" o "Discovery Kids es para bebecitos", lo cual se me hace muy molesto a veces y gracioso en otras, pero siempre me pregunto si yo era así en algún punto. De ahí la importancia que mis páginas tienen para mi: ella si lo sabrá.

The two pager I told you before. It is funny how I used to love b/w pictures, and while I still appreciate them, I think that colored pictures are better to document events. I gave my photos here a lot of saturation to make them pop and fun. Hope you like them.

In other completely unrelated news I already finished the article about eco friendly scrapping, but I haved yet to tranlated to spanish. I was able to put together 25 cool tips that I think you guys will like, but I was hoping to put together 33. There's still time for more and I would love to hear your ideas.

El layout de dos páginas del que les hablé anteriormente. Es gracioso como yo solía amar las fotos en blanco y negro, y aunque todavía las aprecio, pienso que las fotos a color son mejores para documentar eventos. A mis fotos aqui les dí mucha saturación para que sobresalieran y se vieran divertidas. Espero que les guste.

En otras noticias totalmente ajenas a lo anterior, ya terminé el artículo sobre scrapping acológico, pero em falta traducirlo al español. Pude compilar 25 tips muy interesantes que pienso que les van a gustar, pero esperaba que fueran 33. Todavía hay tiempo para más y me encantaría escuhar sus ideas.

I received a whole bunch of buttons from my sweet MIL Bienvenida, and I though I'd spread the joy. They are mostly grey but I threw in a few red, metalic, clear and black ones (ideal for halloween, which I don't celebrate)
They are more than a 100 buttons in different sizes and colors
The dominican post office lefts a lot to be desired, so I can only ship to the American continent (north america, central america and south america) or to people with PO boxes in any of these places, sorry :(

Recebí un monton de botones de mi dulce suegra Bienvenida, y pensé que era buena idea compartir. Son mayormente grises, pero también incluí unos cuantos rojos, metálicos, transparentes y negros (ideales para halloween, el cual no celebro)

color challenge number 24/ reto de color número 24

Another week, another challenge from Kwerner. I wasn't too crazy about the colors (brown, green orange, vanilla white) but I managed to use very little orage (I have a strange condition called orangephobia) and I used the flower like in the previous card. It came ou very simple, but I think is minimalistic and clean.

This card makes me think of Crate and Barrel :)

Otra semana otro reto de Kwerner. No estaba muy excitada con estos colores (marrón, verde, naranja y blanco vainilla) pero logré usar muy poco naranja (padezco una extraña condición llamada naranjafóbia) y volví a usar la flor de la tarjeta anterior. Me salió muy simple, pero pienso que es minimalista y limpio.

Esta tarjeta me recuerda el logo de Crate and Barrel :)

Hello!

I've found some interesting stuff online that I think are worth sharing:
1.- Quite possibly the cutest card ever (bottom of the post) and the tutorial to put it together;
2.- An article about actions, complete with a link to some free ones;
3.- This is not scrapbook related, but how cute are these towel desserts? I think this would make awesome party favors!
4.- Another contender for the cutest card ever contest, sigh
5.- The technique I'm using to color my stamped images: colored pencils, baby oil and paper stumps. Works like a charm and it's cheap.
6.- Stamping Up catalog in spanish! (PDF format, takes a little while to download)
7.- A little nepotism: my hubby's blog, really check it out, he snaps really cool pics (a photographer an a scrapper, isn't it a match made in heaven?)

Last but not least, I'm working on a post regarding srapping on the green, that is in a eco-friendly way. I really want to make a good compilation on a single post, so if you have any tips you want me to publish (with the ue credit, of course) please leave it as a comment on this entry.

Hola!

Encontré algunas cosas interesantes en linea que quiero compartir:
1.- Posiblemente la tarjeta mas linda que he visto (al final del post) y un tutorial para hacerla;
2.- Un artículo sobre actions, completo con links para bajar algunos gratis;
3.- Esto no tiene que ver con el scrapbook, pero no son estos "postres" hechos de toallas adorables? pienso que serían un excelente souvenir para una fiesta!
4.- Otro contendiente, para el consurso de la tarjeta mas bella que he visto en mi vida
5.- La técnica que estoy usando para colorear las imagenes estampadas: lapices de color, aceite de bebé y rollos de papel. Funciona de maravilla y es barato.
6.- Catálogo de Stamping Up en español! (en formato PDF, dura un poco en bajar)
7.- Un poquito de nepotismo: el blog de mi esposo. En serio, chequenlo, saca muy buenas fotos (un fotógrafo y una scrapper, que buena combiación, no?)

Por último, estoy trabajando en un post sobre hacer scrapook de forma "verde", es decir ecológicamente amigable. These are my girlfriends from school, I've known Elsy (in tuquoise) since 4th grade and Alejandra (in white) since 8th grade, it was about time their pic find its way into my scrapbooks.

There's a funny story behind this photograph. We tried to get our class (99) to get together, we haven't seem many of these people in years, and only five people (including us trhee) showed up. Strangely enough, instead of feeling bumped we felt happy to be there with each other and had the chance to take some "decent" pictures of us. Hence the title of this LO.

I went for the minimalistic approach for this one, I hope I don't look back on it and think it needed a little more.

On a completely different note, check out this room makeovers by Stephen Saint-Onge, seriously, this guy can turn a cave into a suite. Very inspiring.

Estas son mis amigas del colegio. Elsy (en turquesa) la conozco desde 4to grado y a Alejandra (en blanco) desde 8vo. Ya era hora de que su foto encontrara su camino hacia mi libro de recortes.

Hay una historia graciosa detrás de esta paágina. Nosotras convocamos una reunión de nuestra promoción del cole (año 99) y tan sólo cinco personas (incluyendonos a nosotras tres) fueron. Extrañamente, en vez de sentirnos decepcionadas, estabamos genuinamente felices de estar ahí juntas y hasta aprovechamos para tirarnos algunas fotos "decentes". De ahí el título.

En esta página traté un enfoque minimalista, asi que espero en el futuro no la vea y piense que necesita alguito mas.

en una nota totalmente divorciada del tema, tienen que chequear estas redecoraciones de habitaciones que hace Stephen Saint-Onge, en serio, este amigo puede convertir una cueva en una suite. Muy inspirador.

I though I'd celebrate my husband's interest in gadgets and this is what I came up with.
I'm totally embracing my handwrinting, I no longer agonize about it (nor the fact that I misspelled the word "few", HA!). Ali would approve.
Also, I used plenty of white space on this one, but I think is OK for a change.
As you can see it is the same photograph in different grades if lightness and cropped in different ways. I'm considering replacing the last one, it is just too dark.

Pensé que era buena idea celebrar la afición de mi esposo por la tecnología y esto fue lo que salió.
Estoy abrazando la idea de usar mi letra en las páginas, ya no agonizo por eso (ni por el hecho de que escribí mal la palabra "few", JA!. Ali me corroboraría.
Igualmente usé mucho espacio en blanco en esta página, pero creo que está bien para variar.
Como pueden ver es la misma fotografía en diferentes grados de claridad y recortada en maneras diferentes. Estoy considerando reemplazar la última, ya que me quedó muy oscura.

These cards I made using only scraps (except for the cardstock). There 's something liberating about purging in a constructive, creative, enviromentally friendly way. So, this is my advice, make cards out of your scraps, not only are handmade cards a great detail, but you will find that paper that you know you will never use on a page again can still be useful. Even ugly paper and cardstock make nice cards!

Not to mention that I've seen my box of scraps become emptier and that is a huge relief, as I could have never brought myself to throw them away (I keep even the most ridiculous sizes and shapes of paper)

Estas tarjetas fueron hechas usando solo pedazos de papel (salvo la cartulina, hay algo liberador sobre purgar de una forma constructiva, creativa y ambientalmente amigable, esos pedazos de papel que quedan. Así que este es mi consejo: con el papel que les sobre de sus página de scrapbook hagan tarjetas, no solo son las tarjetas hechas a mano un detalle lindisimo, pero se darán cuenta de que el papel que sabes que no vas a usar jamas en una página puede ser útil. Hasta papel feo hace tarjetas bonitas!.

Por demás he visto como se va vaciando mi caja de scraps y eso es un gran alivio, ya que no hubiese podido botarlos (conservo hasto los tamaños y formas mas ridiculas de papel)

I made this LO inspired by my luckiest shot so far and this great song by Cat Stevens I rediscovered recently (I remember my dad listening to it but I never paid attention to it until recently when it was sang by Ellen Greene on "Pushing Daisies"). It's called "Morning has broken" and it is a BEAUTIFUL christian hymn about spring.

Anyhoo, I made a huge mess of glue on this page (thanks to the thickers), which I made worst by (silly me) trying to fix with my fingers. Thankfully I was able to erase the little problem with the glue remover by EK success which I recommend if you change your mind after you have glue things down. Not that I do that...

Also, in this photo (the one on the LO) I ran this super cool action I found at Totally Rad Actions, it was free and I got great results, you can find it here.

Hice esta página inspirada por esta foto que de pura casualidad salió bastante bien y por esta gran canción de Cat Stevens que redescubrí recientemente (recuerdo que mi papá la escuchaba mucho, pero no le puse atención hasta que la cantó Ellen Greene en "Pushing Daisies"), se llama "Morning has broken" y es un himno cristiano sobre la primavera.

En esta página hice un desastre con adhesivo (gracias a los thickers) el cual por supuesto empeoré (de tontica) tratando de arreglar con los dedos. Afortunadamente pude borrar el problema con el removedor de adhesivo de EK Success, el cual recomiendo si eres de los que cambia de opinión cuando ya están las cosas pegadas en la página. No que yo haga nada como eso...

Igualmente les digo que en este foto, la que está en la página, corrí una accion que consegui en Totally Rad Actions, es gratis y tiene un resultado fabuloso. La pueden conseguir aqui.

With this LO I did two things that I hardly never do: use black cardstock and have an embellishment that does not completely match (the pink clip I used out of whim and fighting my matchy-matchy impulses). I'm trying to get out of my comfort zone and try something different as it always amazes me to see people use products I would not even consider buying and turning them into something beautiful. So I'm kind of pushing my boundaries here and I must admit it makes me really nervous.
Anyhoo, these people are my husband and in-laws, some of the most exceptional people I know, the photo was taken by me.

Con esta página hice dos cosas que nunca hago: usar cartulina negra y un adorno que no combina del todo (el clip rosado que usé de puro capricho y en franca contradicción con mis impulsos de que todo combine a la perfección). This is what came up using the photos I posted before. As you can see I gave up and didn't use the lace cardstock at all. I needed something more masculine and used these papers by Basic Grey, the funny thing is that they are supposed to be christmas papers but they don't look anything like it on this page. Guess it is a matter of how you use it.

I found a really cool online program for photo editing, it's called Picnik and it has some really cool functions and works pretty fast, I was able to do this:

Vigneting and a "brush" so to speak, not too shabby for a little free online program.

Long story short, I now find the cardstock to be too "tropical" and not quite apropriate for the theme, so I'm out of ideas.

Suggestions will be appreciated, for I haven't glue anything down yet.

You might wonder, and rightfully so, what's the point of a post like this. I just think it's fun to see what a fellow scrapper uses to put together a LO and what it turns out to be. I have seen people do great pages with products I think are horrible, also I've seen people using some products I have in ways I could have never come up with.
Of course, I don't claim to be super original or creative, I'm just a scrapper who loves to learn and be inspired, so I try to bring the same to whoever reads my blog, I know there are not many, though... LOL

Podrías preguntare, y con toda razón, de que sirve un post como este. Es sólo que me parece muy divertido ver lo que una srapper como yo usa para hacer una página y lo que estas terminan siendo. He visto personas hacer páginas fabulosas con productos que me parecen horribles, asi como he visto personas usar productos que yo tengo en formas que a mi no se me hubiese ocurrido.
Claro, con esto no quiero decir que soy la scrapper mas original o creativa, sino que me gusta aprender y sentirme inspirada, así que trato de brindar lo mismo a las personas que leen mi blog, aunque se que no son muchos... LOL

Well, this is it, I hope it was worth the wait, I realize the pic of the LO is not all that, but it was pretty hard to snap given all the transparency used in it, all I kept getting was flashes, then turned off the flash and pictures came out either blurry or dark, it was no piece of cake I tell ya...

I did fall for the get-a-tripod-take-your-own-pic cliché, but I take it as a necessary step towards documenting my life at this point, besides there's no way I'm striking all those silly poses in front of somebody else... so there...

And talking about pictures, you might want to take a look at this class at Two Peas, it is called "Twelve weeks to better photos". I'm hoping to be able to go through it carefully this weekend, but what I've read so far seems quite interesting and easy to understand. You can find it here

Bueno, espero que haya valido la pena la espera, como pueden ver la foto de la página no está muy buena que digamos, pero fué muy dificil de tomar, por mas que trataba lo único que salía era el flash por toda la transparencia que utilicé, cuando apagué el flash las fotos me salian borrosas u oscuras, así que no fué fácil.

Admito que he caido en el cliché de usar un tripode para tomar mi propia foto, pero lo veo como una necesidad del momento para documentar mi vida en este punto, además no hay forma de que yo haga todas esas poses delante de otra persona, así que ahí va...

Hablando de fotos, les recomiendo que vean este curso de fotografía que encontré en Two Peas in a Bucket, se llama "Doce semanas para mejores fotografías" (está en inglés), espero poder verlo con detenimiento en este fin de semana, pero lo que he leido hasta ahora es muy interesante y fácil de entender. This is my latest, its title its "Always" and it is about Camille asking me if she would still be my niece when I have my own children, the journaling talks about me loving her always.

I though it'd be interesting to see the photograph alone and then the LO, I gave the photograph a lot of contrast and some glow to simbolize the "dark" thought of me not loving her anymore but her esencially innocent, rather "angelic" nature.

Este es mi última página, se titula "siempre" y se trata de Camille preguntandome si seguiria siendo mi sobrina cuando yo tenga mis propios hijos, el journaling habla de como la querré siempre.

Pensé que serría interesante ver la foto sola y despues la página. A la foto le di mucho contraste y glow, para simbolizar la "oscuridad" de ese pensamiento, pero su naturaleza esencialmente inocente, digamos angelical.

I´m not proud to say this but I just learned from the girls at the Creating Keepsakes message board that you can make scalloped edges using your circle Coluzzle... it hit me like a rock! why didn´t I think that before! that was my "well duh!" moment of the month, hope you like the trick...

When I conceived this LO I thought I'd named it "goofing around" or something like that, then I looked at the pictures and realized that we are so very lucky to be looking at those war devices rusting in the grass without fear, without traumas, have the girls play with them and take photographs. For how many children the same sight conjures terror and death and loss? So I decided to make it a little tribute to peace, hence the quote, the flourishes, and the bugs, I wanted to convey the devices like a part of the enviroment, something that has and should remain unmoved, like a tree... anyhoo, I hope you like it.

These pictures were taken in the Ozama fortress in Santo Domingo, I got to sit on top of a war tank that day!.

Cuando concebí esta página pensé nombrarla "juguteando" o algo así, pero me puse a ver las fotografías y me di cuenta de que afortunados somos de ver maquinaria de guerra oxidandose en la grama, sin miedos, sin traumas, dejar que las niñas jueguen con ellos y tomas fotografías. ¿Para cuantos niños la misma escena conjura terror, muerte y pérdida? Así que decidi hacerla un pequeño tributo a la paz, de ahí la cita y los flourishes y los insectos, quería dar la idea de que los artefactos de guerra eran algo mas del ambiente, algo que se había y debía mantenerse inmóvil, como un arbol... bueno, espero que les guste.
Estas fotos fueron tomadas en la fortaleza Ozama. Me senté encima de un tanque de guerra ese día!

I stopped for capuccino this morning at a coffe shop in Santo Domingo well known for not having enough parking space, but being the only one around it's the one I usually go to. I thanked my lucky stars as I spotted an empty space.
Went in, got the coffe and as I came out I noticed that I couldn't access the vehicle due to a white jeep parked extremely close. I got pretty angry, but decided to be as polite as possible due to the parking lot situation, so I went back in and ask EVERYBODY if the jeep was theirs, of course, the owner was the last person I asked (Murphy's law) who offered to inmediately move it, but having a car parked behind, had to come back in and ask one of his friends to move his.
Long story short a whole table of people (in some sort of meeting I guess) came out key in hand just as I realized that the car had a rosary haging from the review mirror, IT WAS NOT MY CAR, mine was the one parked right next to it (same brand and model, and similar color, of course) which was completely free to come out.
I was extremely embarassed to admit I had interrupted everybody's breakfast over nothing, but at least they laughed it off and were pretty nice to me, I couldn't apologize fast enough and practiclly ran away of there.
The moral of the story is: make sure is your car. Lesson learned, the hard way...

Esta mañana me detuve a comprar un capuccino en una reposteria de la ciudad de Santo Domingo bien conocida por no tener suficientes parqueos, pero siendo que es la mas cercana a mi es la que usualmente visito. Me sentí de suerte cuando noté un parqueo vacio esperando por mi. Entré compré mi cafe, sólo para darme cuenta que no podía acceder al vehículo por un jeep blanco parqueado extremadamente cerca.
Me enojé mucho pero decidí entrar y preguntar amablemente a TODO el mundo allí si el jeep era de ellos, claro, resultó ser de la última persona a quien le pregunte (oh, las leyes de Murphy) quien amablemente se ofreció a moverlo de forma inmediata, pero teniendo el carro de un amigo atrás tuvo que pedirle a el que saliera a hacer lo mismo.
En resumen, la mesa entera del señor salió llave en mano, justo cuando me percaté que el carro tenía un rosario colgando del retrovisor, ESE NO ERA MI CARRO, el mio era el que estaba parqueado justo al lado (misma marca, mismo modelo, color similar) y el cual estaba totalmente despejado para salir.
Estaba extremadamente avergonzada de admitir que había interrumpido el desayuno de todos por nada, pero ellos fueron amables conmigo y se rieron del asunto. No me pude discular lo suficientemente rápido y practicamente me fuí corriendo de ahí.
Moraleja de la historia: asegurate que sea tu carro. Lección aprendida, de la manera dificil...

These are all of my cards, I made six kinds in total, I just couldn't make up my mind, so I ended up woking overtime and spending lots of money and time. Then again, this is my very first time making cards, so I figure I paid my dues. Experience learned for next year: decide the kind of card you want and buy accordingly :)

Estas son todas mis tarjetas, hice seis en total, simplemente no me podía decidir, así que terminé trabjando tiempo extra e invirtiendo mucho dinero y tiempo. Sin embargo, esta es la primera vez que hago tarjetas, así que creo que pagué mi novatada. Lo que ya se para el próximo año: decide la tarjeta que vas a hacer con antelación y compra los materiales despues :)

This one of my LO's, those are my sweet little nieces :) . I LOVE everything from American Crafts, but I can't get enough of the Thickers. I would buy one every single one in every color, but I don't think my husband nor my credit card would appreciate that...

I'm into butterflies a lot lately, Inkadinkado has the cutest dotted butterfly stamp ever, If I can find a pic, I'll post it.

Yesterday I came across the funniest article on wacky labels (link below), I cracked as I read the first place winner: "AVOID DEATH"... I'll keep that in mind, thank you.

That got me thinking about the essence of the craft, to preserve memories, and how way too often we forget to scrap about ourselves. What better trace of our personalities than the things that we find amusing?. Sure, your children will want to know how their first day of school was, but they will want to know about you as well. Haven't you wonder what was your mother like at 25? I know I have.

So I dare you to scrap the funny stuff. I dare myself to do so, will share the result.

Ayer me topé con un artículo hilarante sobre las instrucciones en los productos y las locuras que dicen (link abajo, en ingles). Casi me destornillo de la risa al leer el ganador del primer lugar: "EVITE LA MUERTE"... gracias, lo voy a tener en cuenta.

Eso me puso a pensar en la esencia de este hobbie, guardar recuerdos, y como muy a menudo nos olvidamos de inluirnos a nosotras (os) mismas (os) en nuestras paginas. ¿Que mejor rasgo de nuestra personalidad que aquellas cosas que consideramos graciosas?. Seguro, tu hijos querrán saber como estuvo su primer día de clases, pero querrán tambien saber sobre tí. ¿Nunca te has pregundatado como era tu madre a los 25? yo si.

Así que te insto a que documentes las cosas que te hacen reir. Me reto a mi misma a hacerlo y prometo compartir por aqui los resultados.
